Active Protection Device
The Active Protection Device (APD) from CounterSnipe Technologies provides maximum visibility and control over traffic entering and leaving your environment. It is a powerful and flexible appliance that can function either as an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) passively sniffing for undesired traffic or as an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) that will actively prevent unauthorized traffic from entering your environment.
Why IPS?
Intrusion Detection and Prevention is a low cost, high return means to discover unauthorized inside your network. It is also a very effective way to identify and manage your IT security risk by showing traffic that it identifies as potentially harmful to your company.
There are two APD models available, the APD1000 and APD4000. The APD4000 is available with Gb Interfaces in either Copper or Optical Fibre configurations. The devices offer a complete Intrusion Prevention and Detection System with an easily manageable (Secure web based) GUI and comprehensive Alert or Alert/Drop rule set.
